1972 Gibson ES-335 TD Special Custom Colour WHITE Nr. MINT! + OHSC + Tags RARE
Ultra rare custom colour 1972 Gibson ES-335 TD anyone?
Another one from the Boss's personal collection. This was bought many years ago from a dealer who told us he bought it from the widow of the original owner who was a preacher in Southern California. He ordered this guitar from Gibson in 1971 as a special order in white so he could play the guitar at weddings he presided over. Jugding by the amazing, original condition this one is in and the lack of any real wear on the all original frets, it does not look as if he played it much.
This guitar is in near MINT condition, even the case is too. There are no real signs of wear, the finish has escaped fading (apart from the binding of course) or any substantial dings. There are a few check marks here and there but it looks as if this has been kept in the case for most of its life. Quite a case queen.
The frets and fretboard are in near mint condition, frets have plenty of life left in them. As with the body, there are no marks on the neck, the headstock having checked ever so slightly and the body checked slightly too.
Hardware is in near mint condition, still gleaming with no corrosion and working perfectly. As are the electrics with 2 x un-molested, PAT Number sticker pickups which sound great! All pots (dated 1972 week 2?) and wiring original too, with undisturbed solder.
This is a well balanced instrument with confident, rootsy acoustic tone. The neck is comfortable and familiar with easy access to the upper frets. The Patent number pickups add that classic punch, bite and warmth, arguably the last of Gibson’s classic humbucking pickups .
Included with the guitar is the original hardshell case and hang tag.
Custom colour guitars from this period are few and far between, especially white making this a must have for any collection. Grab it before it gets away...
