1969 Gibson SG Standard, Cherry

Really nice 1969 SG Standard in dark, original Cherry red with no breaks. No one can sell one of these without mentioning the 'Angus' word so there you go.. we just have. Overall this is an excellent example of the iconic SG Standard incarnation. 3-piece Mahogany neck, no volute, pantograph style logo and no Made in USA. Early/mid 1969 build with pots dated last week of 1968. All hardware is original and in excellent shape, the Kluson double-line, double-ring tuners are correct for the period and function well. All wiring appears correct with original solder and the correct orange drop caps.

Tonally, the guitar excels thanks to the original Pat. No. humbuckers, the neck pickup delivering a smooth, PAF-like tone with plenty of warmth and a subtle growl, ideal for rhythm playing and lead work alike. The bridge pickup provides sharp bite and definition, delivering that signature SG cut perfect for rock, blues, and classic tones.

The neck has a classic late 60's slim taper profile that provides a comfortable grip, offering enough chunkiness to wear the slimmer nut width very well. The guitar overall feels fast and easy to navigate.

The dark cherry, Lyre vibrola, Chrome hardware look on this model is without a doubt iconic. This is one very cool incarnation of the SG Standard that defines this late '60s period. Comes complete with a non-original hard case.
