1968 Gibson SG Special Refin, Pelham Blue

A super cool, player-grade 1968 Gibson SG Special, beautifully refinished in Pelham Blue by Richard Rendall, with just the right amount of ageing and character. This one ticks all the right boxes for a rare colour, vintage SG with great looks, a vibey feel, and a very attractive price tag.
The refinish has been aged really well, with some light yellowing to the top coat giving it that lovely blue-green hue Pelham Blue is known for as it ages. There’s a nice dose of subtle lacquer checking throughout which is restrained and tastefully done.
Electronics-wise, the caps have been changed, while the pots appear to be original, though the solder work is messy and codes are not visible. The original P-90 pickups deliver all the raw, punchy tone you want from an SG Special, with a great balance of bite and warmth—perfect for anything from garage rock to jangly pop or snarling blues.
Neck carve is classic late-‘60s Gibson—slim at the nut but comfortable, with a nice taper up the neck. Playability overall is great. It’s a lively, lightweight SG that responds really well acoustically, always a good sign. If you're after a vintage Gibson with bags of vibe, great looks, and proper tone, this one delivers without the collector price tag.
