1966 Gibson ES-330 TD, Ice Tea
An absolutely stunning 1966 Gibson ES-330 TD, finished in a vibrant Ice Tea sunburst and without question one of the cleanest examples we’ve ever come across. It’s incredibly well-preserved—hard to imagine a nicer one, with near spotless hardware, rich colour, and just a hint of faint lacquer checking. For collectors and players alike, this is about as good as it gets.
The chrome hardware is gleaming and untarnished, the Ice Tea sunburst finish retains its full depth and saturation, and the overall condition suggests this guitar has seen very little use over the last five decades. It also retains its original case and tags, rounding out an already exceptional package.
Spec-wise, it's as expected from this period - double-line Kluson tuners with plastic buttons, chrome dog-ear P-90 pickups, trapeze tailpiece, reflector knobs, block inlays and a slim but very playable C profile neck. Strangely, it has gold tuner ferrules but there's no sign of different tuners having been installed. Although not correct it's hard to imagine why they would have been changed given the little use the guitar has had during its life.
Tonally, it’s everything a great ES-330 should be—clear, dynamic, and full of harmonic content, with that unmistakable P-90 bite and warmth. It’s a guitar that feels alive in the hands, light and resonant, with a responsiveness that makes it very enjoyable and rewarding to play!
A remarkable vintage Gibson in every sense—a true under-the-bed survivor and one of the finest ES-330s we’ve had the pleasure of offering. As clean as they come!
