1963 Gibson SG Junior, Cherry + OSSC

Simple in design but oh so effective, the SG Junior model is a favourite of ours here at ATB. We love their feel, the lightweight resonance of the single piece Honduran Mahogany body & neck, wrap tailpiece and a roaring single P90 with all of the bite and attack you could need.
This example does not disappoint. Firstly it looks great, still retaining vibrance in its cherry finish with minimal fading. The neck is a nice medium C profile and the guitar overall plays very well. The wraparound, compensating bridge works well giving you the solidity and firmness you'd expect. There is no visible lean to the bridge studs either and overall the geometry of the instrument is spot on.
Sound wise we all know what to expect! Biting, cutting P90 tone when driven, and sumptuous, balanced clean sounds that have a pleasant attack and overall character when clean. The volume and tone controls are not to be overlooked on this model. Backoff the volume when driven and the amp will clean up beautifully, retaining some lush top end... and why not roll off the tone and fire up the fuzz pedal for that quacky/honky/buzzy sound that we just can't get enough of?!
Condition wise this one is in great shape. Due to the production numbers and relative affordability of this model they can sometimes fall victim to customisation, breaks and repairs over the years so it's always great to see a well preserved example that's been looked after throughout it's life.
If you're looking for an SG Junior for that single-P90 hole in your tonal arsenal this is an excellent contender, also coming with it's original red plush-lined soft shell case.
