1959 Gibson Les Paul Junior, Cherry

A nice example of a golden-era double-cut Junior. The single piece Honduran mahogany body shows a really attractive grain pattern beneath its faded Cherry finish, with wear that gives the guitar an attractive patina and a nice overall feel. Lightweight and resonant it's everything you'd want from this model.
The neck has the highly desirable ’59 profile - a rounded, full carve that feels superb in the hand - topped with a rosewood fingerboard with 22 frets, simple dot inlays and a 1,11/16" nut width. The neck feels great to play, a big part of why models from '59 are held in such high regard. The neck has had some overspray in the past and there have been Grover style tuners previously installed with holes visible beneath the current period correct Klusons.
Electronics and hardware remain original and appear untampered. The single dog-ear P-90 in its original black cover delivers the raw, open voice that defines this model, with volume and tone controls offering a surprising level of versatility for such a simple setup. A roll off of volume cleans up a driven amp nicely with the tone control offering everything from full-on dark woolliness to a slight taming of the top end.
The nickel-plated wraparound bridge shows tarnishing and wear as do the posts, the tortoiseshell guard remains original and intact and there are two small filled holes on the top of the body. Otherwise there are no breaks or repairs.
Juniors are especially prized for their balance of simplicity, resonance, and a raw/powerful tone. This is a fantastic example with just the right amount of vintage wear and changes to keep the price down.
