2021 Fender Custom Shop Ltd Ed 62 Stratocaster, Faded/Aged Sea Foam Green
A superb Custom Shop Strat, this Limited Edition ’62 model pairs period-correct styling with some tasteful modern tweaks, all wrapped up in a beautifully executed relic finish. Finished in a faded/aged Sea Foam Green with gold hardware, it’s a striking look that leans into that slightly offbeat, custom-colour Fender aesthetic for those wanting something a bit different!
This example has been given a heavy relic treatment, with lacquer checking, worn edges and subtle ageing throughout. The finish feels nicely broken-in, both visually and in the hand, without tipping into anything overdone. The gold hardware adds a nice touch of contrast against the soft green, giving it a slightly more “custom order” vibe compared to your typical ’62 spec.
The neck is a maple construction with a flat-lam maple fingerboard, an unusual but very cool twist on the traditional rosewood board you’d expect from a ’62. It features a fairly large oval “C” profile that sits nicely in the hand. The 7.25"-9.5" compound radius and narrow/tall 6105 frets offer excellent modern playability, making bends and vibrato effortless.
Electrically, it’s loaded with a trio of hand-wound 'Bone Tone' single coils, delivering exactly what you’d hope for with clear top end, a woody midrange and bell-like low end. The addition of a blender control expands the tonal range nicely, allowing you to bring in the neck pickup with the bridge or run all three pickups together, adding a bit more versatility without straying too far from the traditional layout.
Other details include the vintage-style tremolo, 4-bolt neck construction, spaghetti logo, and aged plastics throughout.
A great option for someone wanting a Strat with a slightly different visual identity and a few thoughtful tweaks and upgrades. It’s a lively, resonant guitar with plenty of character, and one that feels inspiring straight out of the case.
