1980 KittyHawk Standard
This amp originally belonged to Gregor Hilden, the great German Blues guitarist! It's a very clean and pretty rare first version of the Kittyhawk Standard, fitted with the original EV 12L speaker which makes the amp reassuringly heavy! As such this one is available for collection only.
Kitty Hawk was importing the Dumble for Germany in the early 80's, and they developed their own clones, mixed with early Boogie aesthetics (which they were also importing at the time)
The Standard model was in the OD-Special spirit: 50w (x2 6L6), 2 channels with original wooden footswitch, voicing and boost switch, effect loop, slave out, preamp out/power amp in... It has an original EV 12L speaker, same as Dumble cabs. Master volume is great!, you can really have a nice tone at lower volumes, and it can be really loud if needed.
It sounds just terrific, some of the best Dumble-like tones around, better than any clone amp according to a lot of people.
This amp was 1 of 2 Kitty Std Gregor Hilden owned and used it on the majority of his albums and Live. You can find great clips with detailed gear info on his website and live videos on youtube.
NB: Gregor is playing the Kitty most of the time with low-mid gain, the amp can do much higher gain if wanted. It always stays tight and articulate, and warm!
It is in really nice condition with hardly a mark on the wooden cabinet, just some scratches on the back panel and some on the front. Grille cloth is pretty much perfect as is the logo etc.
A very rare amp and one of the best sounding ones we have had the pleasure to hear here...
