1975 Fender Champ, Silverface
Cool mid-70s Silverface Champ. A small box that packs a punch!
The 70s saw a few changes to the Champ's circuitry compared to its drip-edge and black panel predecessors. One of the significant internal changes was the modification of the tone stack, which altered the way the tone controls responded. This in addition to cooler biasing resulted in a slightly cleaner sound with more headroom and less natural overdrive when cranked compared to the earlier models.
Loos like a few passive components have been replaced to keep it working but all the important bits are all there and original.
This is a good example that will deliver vintage small box tone effortlessly. Often overlooked due to a preference for earlier models, these amps tend to fly under the radar, but we feel they offer excellent value for money. Beloved for its simplicity, tone, and versatility—especially when paired with pedals or used for low-volume gigs and recording, these and are a good option when searching for vintage tone on a budget.
