1968 Fender Telecaster Type 1 Thinline, Mahogany + OHSC

The lesser seen Mahogany Type 1 Thinline rather than the more common Ash example. At the time of writing we actually have both versions in stock, both from 1968 - the first year of production. The Thinline is a really cool model designed to be lightweight and more resonant but also to retain the similar characteristic Tele bite and twang that we all know and love. This one doesn't disappoint on that front, and apart from a refret and full overspray the guitar is all original and in excellent condition.
The headstock bears the original black bold Fender Telecaster decal, a single string tree and 6 original F-stamped tuners. All dateable components align: the serial number dating to '68, the Maple neck stamped DEC '68, and earlier pots from '66 as is commonly seen due to a large potentiometer order that year. You even see '66 pots on instruments into the early '70s for that reason.
The guitar also comes with a COA from Gruhn Guitars dated Feb 2019 which corroborates our findings that the instrument is original besides the overspray which they attempted to remove with some success. They also refretted the guitar with slighter larger fret wire and it's playing great! The neck is a larger medium C profile which is comfortable, supportive and gives a nice solid feel to the instrument overall.
A really nice Type 1 Thinline that would make an excellent addition to any collection, as well as a wonderful instrument to play and enjoy. Comes complete with original hard case.
