1964 Fender Showman Head

A superb and desirable export example of Fender’s legendary large-format head, this 1964 Blackpanel Showman represents the pinnacle of pre-CBS design - massive clean headroom, unmistakable clarity, and the sort of dynamic response that made the Showman a favourite among surf players, studio pros, and touring guitarists throughout the ’60s and 70's.

Sporting the classic Black panel, this early Showman features Fender’s revered AB763 circuitry, delivering rich, three-dimensional cleans with tight, piano-like lows, articulate mids, and shimmering, bell-like highs. Turn it up and the Showman responds with warm compression and a beautifully musical edge-of-breakup character, all while retaining exceptional definition.

The head remains in excellent vintage condition. The original transformers are intact, the chassis and circuitry are clean, and any maintenance has been performed thoughtfully to preserve its authenticity and reliability. The tolex and grille cloth show only light, honest wear, consistent with a well-cared-for amp of this era. An alteration has been made to the mains cable outlet which has resulted in the back panel having a cut out to accommodate it.

Sonically, this Showman sits beautifully in a mix and handles pedals with ease. Whether you’re after classic surf tones, wide-open cleans for pedals, or one of Fender’s most authoritative platforms, the Showman stands in a class of its own.

A powerful, collectible, and exceptionally musical pre-CBS head, ideal for players seeking true vintage clean and loud Fender tone at full scale.
